About Leading Change

Diplomatically reorganize project development tasks and/or objectives to meet written specifications and document under-defined or unidentified needs, adapting strategies to integrate both administration, personnel, and resources to the refined organizational tasks / objectives for the project.

About Leading People

Leading by example and being firm yet fair, while acknowledging everyone’s point of view when it is appropriate. When problems occur, identify the root cause of difficulties while focusing on the needs of the individual, guiding them to an understanding of how to work effectively even with those they may dislike personally or in adverse environments, without directly attacking behavior and addressing ways to solve or circumvent the problems. I build an atmosphere of cooperation and tolerance among very diverse individuals and groups of people, a “Place of Decency” where the best in people is the norm.

About Achieving Results

Knowledge and expertise in a field is necessary to define project goals. Evaluation of the goals and the plan to achieve them in the form of a feasibility study is a necessary first step in producing high quality results. Producing high-quality results is a continual process of re-evaluating application of technical knowledge, problem analysis, risk assessments, self-evaluations, personnel assessments, and project goals. Decision making occurs at all of these levels, otherwise the results are not high-quality and the goals are not achieved.

About Business Acumen

While "you cannot turn a sows ear into a silk purse" you can always turn a silk purse into the equivalent of a sows ear through mismanagement of resources, especially human resources. There are standards of behavior that must be adhered to:

1) Treat your people well and they will work well.

2) Do not spend what you do not have.

3) Treat other people’s information as if it were your own.

4) Lead by example.

About Building Coalitions

Building coalitions between personnel, departments, institutions, and agencies happens in stages.

First Stage:

1) Identifying common goals and objectives.

2) Identifying differences in goals and objectives.

3) Seek out the opinions of key members in the organizations.

4) Adapt behavior so that it furthers the goals and objectives of the other organization in some way.

Second Stage:

1) Seek out the opinions of key members in the organizations.(No this is not a duplication, communication is crucial to organization affiliation and cooperation.)

2) Discuss ways in which our organizations can assist each other to further our goals and objectives.

3) Collaborate with, and participate in the other organizations activities, which includes active opposition to inter-agency/inter-department territoriality.

4) Share information whenever possible.

I believe that the differences of individuals are what gives us strength and ability, either within a single department, company, locally, or nationally.
